MSCC Launches National Certification Program in Moncton, NB, April 1, 2011 - The Mechanical Service Contractors of  Canada is very proud to announce the official launch of the National Service Contractors Certification Program on April 1, 2011. After 3 years of development in partnership with industry stakeholders, MSCC now offers both the MSCC Certified Contractor and MSCC Certified Technician designation to member contractors.

ABOUT CERTIFICATION

Building owners and facility managers know how vital it is to find the right mechanical service partner to keep their building's critical HVAC/R systems running at peak efficiency.

So how do they find the very best companies and technicians?

The Mechanical Service Contractors of Canada (MSCC) has created the MSCC Certification Program which is a designation for service excellence awarded to an elite group of mechanical service contractors, and individual technicians. MSCC Certified Contractors and MSCC Certified Technicians are top professionals that have demonstrated that they offer customers unsurpassed support, quality workmanship and safe and reliable service.

MSCC Certification is achieved on two levels.

The first level is an individual program for technicians who are required to write an online exam and achieve a minimum 70% to pass. The second level is a company-wide certification where companies demonstrate industry-leading best business practices in key competencies such as safety, training, customer service and employ's MSCC Certified Technicians.

MSCC CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR
The MSCC Certified Contractor designation is awarded to outstanding contractors who have demonstrated industry-leading practices in a number of key competencies (safety, training, documentation, customer service) along with having technicians who are MSCC Certified.

MSCC CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS
The MSCC Certified Technician program is the only technicians certification program in Canada. There are two specific disciplines, 1- HVAC and 2- Plumbing & Heating.

To become certified, technicians participate in a rigorous apprenticeship training program and have extensive on-the-job experience. Finally, only those who pass the comprehensive exam become MSCC Certified Technicians.

To go through the process you must complete and submit the application form (see link below), provide the required documentation, apply for a username and password to access the online test, write the online test within 30 days of receiving your username and password, and pass the test with a minimum 70%.  The test is taken online and consists of 40-50 questions. The test must be completed within 2 hours.

Your mark will be provided immediately upon completion of the test and notification of your mark will also be sent immediately to the MSCC Certification Committee. A certificate and wallet sized certification card will be provided to you upon successful completion of the process. Only employees of MSCC members can apply. Cost to write each test is $75.00 + HST Cdn.

To maintain your certification will be require you to maintain your professional skills and confirm your attendance at a recognized training course annual. An annual photo ID  will then be sent to you for the year at a cost of $25.00 + HST.
